Superfast fibre Broadband Now Live in Dingley
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BELOW IS NOW LIVE - As of 5 FEB 2016 Customers are now connected
The Dingley community are beneficiaries of BT’s investment partnership with Northamptonshire County Council (Superfast Northamptonshire) to extend the reach of superfast broadband to around 95% of the County.
As part of this rollout programme, engineering work is now underway to run a fibre cable from the serving exchange into the village and to then connect this to each residential property or business premises direct via fibre to the premises (FTTP) technology. FTTP offers speeds of up to 330Mbps.
Once engineering work is complete by early summer, the majority of residents and businesses will be able to order a fibre broadband service from their current broadband provider or choose a service from over 150 service providers (e.g. BT Infinity, Sky Broadband, Talk Talk and Plusnet) using the Openreach fibre infrastructure to provide services to their customers.
When the new FTTP service has gone live, this will be notified via Superfast Northamptonshire (leafleting, Parish Council, newsletter and local media). Further information on the technology etc. can be found via the Openreach website:

Important Update from Dingley Parish Council
Since the last edition of the Pump there have been major developments in our bid to secure Superfast Broadband in Dingley. The Parish Council has very recently met with Paul Bimson, the BT Regional Partnership Director for the East Midlands, and he has given us the excellent news that fibre broadband will be available in Dingley village next year. You may have already seen an increase in local activity as Openreach planners have already started surveying the village infrastructure.
Meanwhile, we have also received a letter from Northampton County Council’s (NCC) Ian Achurch, Head of Development, Infrastructure & Funding, confirming funding arrangements with Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK), the Government’s unit which is managing the national programme. He explains that funding for NCC and BT to re-arrange the existing telephone network and to install new fibre-optic cabling has been approved. Paul Bimson and NCC have indicated that if everything goes to plan and we have no major delays for bad weather etc. then this work will be finished by early summer 2015.
The Superfast Northamptonshire partnership between the county council and BT have announced the inclusion of Dingley in their programme, and the website at www.superfastnorthamptonshire.net will soon have updated coverage maps. See the press:
It is important to know that once the Openreach fibre network has been installed and gone live, you will be able to place an order for a fibre broadband package from many different internet service providers (ISPs) including BT, Sky and Talktalk to name just a few. This choice means you can seek the best deals available and purchase the service you want rather than pay for something you don’t need.
We would like to pass on Season's Greetings and wish all villagers well for the New Year. We will next meet again in February (we hold ten meetings per year, with a break in January and August). As always please feel free to come to a council meeting but check the notice board for details as sometimes the dates may change.
Please note that you may also receive a paper copy of this update as not everyone uses the website.
